Rapp’s Barren Brewing Company

Rapp’s Barren Brewing Company is a brewpub in Mountain Home that takes its name from the area’s original name. According to local legend, settler Henry Rapp arrived in this part of the Ozarks in the early 1800s and called it Rapp’s Barren; the town later became known for its cool breezes and the name “My Sweet Mountain Home.” The brewery began when Russell and Chris started home brewing together in their garages in 2015 and earned local awards in competitions. It opened in September 2017, and Kyle, who helped from the start, soon joined as full-time brewer and partner. The brewery later moved into the Baker Building, the first building put up on Mountain Home’s historic downtown square in 1892, renovated it and added a full kitchen. Today it serves craft beer, cocktails and food, hosts live music and an annual ArktoberFest, and offers rentals and catering.
